GREEN LIBERTY TAKES INSPIRATION FROM BOOKCHIN’S PERSPECTIVE
I learned about Murray Bookchin in college in 1979 in a Philosophy of Anarchism class; the professor pointed me to Murray’s collection of essays “Post Scarcity Anarchism,” and noted my concern for nature was addressed in Bookchin’s idea for a social ecology.
I met Murray at an Institute for Social Ecology summer seminar, but knowing him mostly from his writings. However, the videos I am sharing are new to me and remind me what a wonderful human being Murray Bookchin was. To me he is a prophet for his vision for how we can make a better society.
Acquaint yourself with Murray Bookchin; Green Liberty cites Libertarian Municipalism as a foundational idea to advance Green possibilities.
Here are some key videos that inform the Green Liberty perspective.
This clip opens with an introduction by Debbie Bookchin, Murray’s daughter, then features footage of Murray himself. It was produced in Mar 5, 2019, titled: The Philosophy of Communalism / Libertarian Municipalism. It is pure audio without video.
Below is a video of Janet Biehl giving a lecture that covers elements of Murray Bookchin’s life, his evolution as a thinker, and she draws parallels to the Kurdish leader, imprisoned in Turkey. There is audio crackling briefly in the middle. Very heartfelt.
